Milk!
April 3, 2012
About eight years ago, I co-owned a dairy cow with many other families. (A healthy dairy cow will produce eight or more gallons of milk a day, which is why so many people can co-own a single cow.)
A Jersey dairy cow at pasture
It was something I’d been wanting to do for years for two reasons, cow happiness and food freedom, in that order. From keeping chickens previously, I’d become convinced that a mutually beneficial cycle exists where animals are allowed to live at liberty, unmolested by drugs, get to raise their offspring and perform their natural duties.
What few in the milk-buying public know is that commercial dairy operations are the primary supplier of calves to the veal industry. Cows produce milk after pregnancy, so dairy cows are impregnated as often as possible to keep the milk flowing. When a cow can no longer produce calves and milk, she is slaughtered for meat. Despite the images on milk cartons, there is nothing pleasant or serene about the commercial dairy.
This is what the FDA approves
The life of a dairy cow on a commercial “farm” is as nightmarish and unnatural as the white stuff sold in the stores as FDA-approved milk.
On the other hand, the life of a dairy cow on a family farm is more humane and natural. My cow grazed in a big pasture with other cows and kept her calves, some of whom were sold as yearlings for meat. None were kept in crates as is common in veal operations. They lived as cows were meant to live. She produced milk and gave no sorrow with it.
Raw milk was a revelation. The cream rose to the top, so whenever I wanted whipped cream, I could make my own and it was superior in body and taste to the stuff from the store. Most days, my cats and dogs enjoyed a dollop on their food.
I did not drink the milk, but used it in coffee and in baking. Even so, introducing even a small amount of raw milk into my system yielded noticeable benefits, in particular:
- improved skin tone
- elimination of heart pain
- disappearance of grass pollen sensitivity
- reduction of joint pain from old injuries
There are other benefits known to come from drinking raw milk, but these are the four that I experienced. There is much to be said about the benefits of raw milk and even more to be said about the politics of raw milk.
The government is going to great lengths to keep it from you. They know how good it is. They know that regular consumption of raw milk can eliminate or mitigate a host of diseases. Their actions show that they are colluding with big pharma and the medical cabal to keep you sick so they can profit from your diseases. It’s as simple as that.
If you’re wondering about the safety of raw milk, your concerns can be answered with a little reading. Do your own research and make up your own mind. Dialog with people who drink raw milk.
